Vanessa Mooney LookBook SS17

Take yourself on this joyride of a look book by Vanessa Mooney….

Where we’re headed is nowhere, because really it’s never about the destination, but the places you see and experience along the way.

This Vanessa Mooney ‘JOYRIDE’ collection portrays that feeling. It’s full of wild spirit doe eyed looks (from beauty Paige Reifler).

Joyride (noun): A ride taken purely for pleasure.

Expect this shoot to bring back nostalgic emotions; that feeling when you first get your license, and the whole world opens up. It’s those rebelious summer nights when you smoked your first cigarette, swigged your first beverage, or experienced young love.

Take a trip down memory lane, we saw ourselves looking edgy AF, leaning on chain link fences, in a cadillac with our hands in the air and the roof down. That moment when you had just passed your test and could drive around for nothing other than cheap thrills, pulling over for no other reason than it was pretty, and we felt like stopping.

Perhaps Mooney chose this art direction to celebrate teenage nothingness, where there were no worries or plans. Because growing up these small moments consume you, and change you. And really the truth is, all your pitstops are tiny revolutions, landmarks on the road to something greater.

Mooney says she has always been inspired by times of revolution. When she was a teenager she aimed to move against the grain. She worshipped counter culture. She thinks that is when fashion is at its best.

So really, the moral of my long look book analogy is that we need to celebrate all of these so called pit stops. Let’s not over think. But let’s be serious about what we think. Let’s have less worries. More joyrides!
