VOGUE FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS

Following two days packed with inspiring talks, fashion fun and enough tweets to keep the #VogueFestival hashtag trending all weekend. See highlights below………..

A talk on taste featured Lily Allen;

“It’s an individual thing, your appreciation of an aesthetic,” said Allen, pointing out that being provocative had a certain amount to do with it too, while Conran added that behaviour played a strong part. “It’s about expressing yourself. What’s really interesting is how your own taste changes and how you can be mugged by newness. Now, even more so I’m questioning what’s good taste.”

A digital discussion;

This covered a broad range of topics within the digital umbrella – from film being the most obvious medium for fashion “because clothes are designed to be seen in movement” (Nick Knight), to whether social media is the new advertising or just a way of “controlling your image and interacting with your consumer” (Mary Katrantzou, who saw her Instagram following grow from 75,000 to 90,000 directly after her last fashion show), to how digital our world will eventually become. “Everything is going to be digital soon,” said Mira Duma.

The official highlights from the first day of the most glamorous festival in London, the Vogue Festival in association with Harrods.
