DUA SALEH ‘I DO, I DO’ | TRACK OF THE DAY

Dua Saleh’s I Do, I Do feels soft and intimate on first listen and also it carries real weight.

Framed as a pop ballad, the track pulls from a Sudanese proverb, “He who mixes poison is bound to lick his fingers,” with the delicate presence of the oud (played by Malek Vossough) grounding it in something deeper.

There’s a sense of cultural memory running through it, but also something more dystopian: collapse, survival, a world unraveling beneath the surface.

It’s restrained, atmospheric, and equally subtle but heavy… continuing the sonic world Saleh began shaping on Flood and Glow.

If you want to catch a live show then Saleh has also announced a US and European tour, including a one-off London show at the Jazz Cafe.

Of Earth & Wires lands May 15 via Ghostly International.

Yudo Kurita

Also an absolute bonus treat, never been done before on TOTD with TWO tracks, but if you haven’t heard this already then the Bon Iver collab with Dua is one to save on your playlists.
