LYNKS | ARTIST OF THE WEEK

Introducing Lynks the fun, bold and wild performer we need in our lives.
For those who don’t know him, Lynks (also known as Lynks Afrikka) is a lyrical piece of Gen-Z existential trepidation that muses on the world around us. Lynks is in fact the creation of a 22 year old Bristolian called Elliot Brett.

Our favourite track of is ‘How To Be Successful’ which is a storytelling success that bears realistic instructional info that captures the trials and tribulations of life (in two minutes and forty five seconds).

Lynks explains the song in his own words, “As a young person it sometimes feels like you’ve been spat onto this conveyor belt and your whole life is set out in front of you: go to uni, get a job, get a wife, get kids. And all that so you can die happy. It feels like you need to make all these decisions and know exactly what you want RIGHT NOW otherwise you’ll end up unemployed, unloved and unsatisfied. This song was my way of dealing with that frustration. It’s about realising that if you spend every day striving for some dictionary definition of ‘success’, you’ll end up missing your whole life in the process.”

His EP ‘Smash Hits, Vol. 1’ is full of catchy songs that are bold, angry, vicious, and political, tackling subjects like homophobia and empowerment in the queer community, check out the awesome single “Str8 Acting.”

Lynks is an iconic snapshot into of the future of culture and music. We adore it all and can’t get enough of his words and vision.
