CHANEL SS15 SHOW | PARIS FASHION WEEK

Vive la France! Chanel brought back a French feminist revolution yesterday at Paris fashion week. Never one to disappoint, Karl Largerfeld once again decked out the ginormous Grand Palais and transformed the space into Boulevard beauty.

Models took to the runway chanting with placards that read things like ‘HISTORY is HER Story’ and ‘DIVORCE for all.’ Cara Delevingne led the pack with a megaphone and the finale was an epic demonstration. Karl had apparently been inspired by his mother and also evident that the recent issues in Hong Kong, Middle East and general worldwide female rights gave him this direction. The scene was extremely relevant “I thought it was fun to make a demonstration about a subject I can very well adapt to,” he said. “My mother was a feminist, and I was brought up with a history of that.”Women’s rights was a long way from his Supermarket Sweep theme at his last AW14 show.

Recently Chanel has been appealing to the younger demographics which has seen Karl steering away but still acknowledging the expected twin suits. This might explain the banner than read ‘TWEED IS BETTER THAN TWEET.’ However, tweed still makes its mark in the show, even if it’s a quirky alternative to his trademark suits. Chanel still keeps it demure, video on it’s way. Overall, pretty radical catwalk scenes at PFW, see the collection below. We want the Chanel radio bag….
